Nearing the end of his first year in High Level, Dr. Paul Jordaan continues to enjoy the experience of practising medicine in rural Alberta.

"It exposes you to so many new things ... that you never even knew existed," says Dr. Jordaan who decided to come to Alberta on a friend's recommendation.

A family physician, Dr. Jordaan has a special interest in emergency medicine, orthopedics and surgon. In February 2014, he left his home in South Africa to practise in High Level.

"It was a bit of a gamble coming to a small town that you've never seen or heard of before," says Dr. Jordaan. "But ... it's been an unbelievable experience. I've never had any regrets."
